What do I say when someone says hey sexy or always brings up my looks. I dont want to be rude to them but I think I would marry the first man who said to me I love you for your mind or heart. I now just say thank you but why is it men think if they tell you are pretty or gorgeous a girl wants to hear that? I think no one ever gets past the looks and finds out who I really am on the inside. I have tried dressing conservative and not wearing makeup so it isnt because I am dressing revealing or asking for it. No one ever listens to me or wants to know about all the good I try to do in my community. I want love not lust. ;(

Dear Sadly Blonde:

Just because somebody thinks you look good doesn’t mean they don’t wanna know about the heart and mind of the person behind the good looks.

Physical attraction is often a prelude to a deeper connection. But that deeper connection usually happens with time. Maybe you just need to lighten up and be patient with the process. After all, if somebody compliments you on your looks, it’s not an insult exactly. Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, ya know.

One way or the other, it might serve you to consider the old saying, “it’s none of my damn business what other people think of me.”
