My male Golden Retreiver is seven years old, but he thinks he is fucking Marlon Brando in Apocolypse Now! He keeps pissing on the couch! Dog trainers told me I have to be the Pack Leader - but he whips his tail out and barfs on me when I try to assert myself! Do you think I should go ahead and neuter him to make him calm it down?

Honestly, I don’t know much about dogs or their mentality. I’m more of a ‘Cat Person’ myself.

I would suggest you consult with a dog psychologist (is there really such a thing?)

I know that Americans tend to have too much time and money on their hands for their own good, so the canine counseling thing is a real stretch for me.

All the same, it might be something to look into. When in doubt, ask an expert.

I daresay neutering might well be a viable option. As a Cat Person, I can tell ya that cats make much better pets after such an operation.
